Manisha is a painter, photographer and an occasional writer. She received her master’s in fine arts from Jamia Milia Islamia University in1991. She completed Bachelors in French language from the Alliance Francaise simultaneously and was then sent on a French Government Scholarship to Paris to study art.
Her last solo was at Gallery Espace, New Delhi followed by a solo at Sanat Gallery, Karachi. Manisha has also been working on a photography project 'Artist through the lens’ for the last 15 years. The project focuses on photographing the Indian and Pakistani Artists in their studios and creative spaces. This rather exhaustive on-going archive has been shown by the Devi Foundation in 2012 as their solo project and recently at the Kochi Biennale by the Kiran Nader Museum and supported by Saffron Art Foundation in 2014. It will be also be shown at the Lahore Biennale in March 2018.Based on her extensive photography project she writes regularly for her photo-essay column: 'Fly on the Wall' in the leading Indian art quarterly 'Take on Art'.
